The Fairport Harbor Public Library
Welcomes New Director, Kara Cervelli
— The Fairport Harbor Public Library Board of Trustees and staff recently welcomed their new Director, Kara Cervelli, to the library. Mrs. Cervelli succeeds retiring Director, Carol Lipscomb Butsko. She will lead the library forward as it deals with finances, sustains the relationship with the Fairport Harbor school district, and serves the needs of the community.
Mrs. Cervelli has more than 28 years of library experience, most recently serving as the Head of Children’s Services and Technology Coordinator at Perry Public Library from 1991 to 2018. During her tenure at Perry, she managed youth department operations and programming, developing many unique collections and programs for young patrons and educators. She also supervised the budget in a frugal manner and acquired monies through grant writing and pursuing donations from foundations and corporations. She made connections in the community and fostered relationships with other agencies, educators, businesses, and libraries. Mrs. Cervelli has chaired and sat on numerous state and local committees and organizations and has published articles in professional journals.
Mrs. Cervelli has lived in Lake County for over 25 years and holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio University and a Master of Library Science from Kent State University. She is an instructor with the Rabbit Run Community Arts Association and volunteers with Rabbit Run Community Theatre.
“The Fairport Harbor Library has a number of challenges ahead, and we feel Mrs. Cervelli is the right person to lead the library forward”, stated Board President, Ken Newton. “Her expertise in budgeting and funding as well as in community engagement should serve the library and the Fairport Harbor community well”
